Weaving in Afghanistan dates back centuries, with nomadic tribes collecting wool, spinning it by hand, and creating textiles for their own use.
High-quality, hand-spun sheep wool (from breeds like Ghiljai) provides natural durability, softness, and sheen, dyed with plant-based colors (madder for red, indigo for blue).
Hand Knotted using intricate knotting, requiring immense skill.
Patterns (Guls) are tribal and reflect local flora and beliefs, with deep reds, ivories, and blacks being traditional colors.

These Antique cushions have experienced a full life before making their way to our store. A vintage item of exceptional quality should not be viewed as brand new, as it shows signs of a lifetime, or several, being used and appreciated by its original makers. Evidence of this well-lived life may be visible in slightly distressed fabric, loose threads, small tears, non-standard sizes and other unique imperfections.
These are becoming increasingly Hard To Source Due To Political Instability In Afghanistan
